The leading Russian DTH platform Tricolor TV is preparing to launch a service in neighbouring Ukraine.
According to ProIT and Satkurier, the new platform would be known as Lybid TV and operated jointly with the Russian company General Satellite.
Test broadcasts began on Eutelsat W7 last September and a launch was expected by the end of the year but failed to materialise.
At present, talks are taking place between the two parties and local Ukrainian TV stations.
Once Lybid TV makes its debut, it will enter a market dogged by piracy and in which viewers can already receive around 60 Ukrainian and Russian TV channels via satellite.
