BBC iPlayer saw at least 140 million requests for TV-only content per month in the first four months of this year, with the most significant growth being seen in mobile devices, tablets and internet-connected TVs.
The peak month for requests was February (146 million), when requests from tablets and mobile devices amounted to 11 million and 15 million respectively.
When radio programmes were added to the requests, the total in the first four months of the year averaged 190 million, or 24% more than a year earlier.
Mobile and tablet device requests were up 94% year-on-year in April and accounted for 15% of total programme requests in the month. Demand from internet-connected devices such as smart TVs, games consoles and blu-ray players also continued to grow, accounting for 11% of the total in April, with the figure 15% up year-on-year.
Significantly, requests from computers now account for less than 60% of the total.
