Macedonia has moved a stage closer to digitisation following the award of a national DTT operator licence to a company named Veselin by the country’s Agency for Electronic Communication (AEK).
According to Telecompaper, Veselin will be required to distribute four national and local TV channels from June 1, 2013.
A tender is currently under way for 47 local stations that will turn into regional channels in eight regions of Macedonia.
The state will provide 40,000 DTT receivers to the most needy households and the digital dividend offered to 3F and 4G networks.
