Al Jazeera is also launching its sports channels BeIn Sport 1 and 2 in the US. On August 1, an English and a Spanish channel will launch, focussing mainly on football and including live coverage of the French Ligue 1, the Spanish Ligua, Italian Série A and la Copa America will launch on August 1.
BBC Worldwide Channels will launch a channel in Brazil, in partnership with NET Serviços. BBC HD will be available to NET’s Top HD package subscribers starting on May 28th. This deal also includes a branded VOD service agreement which will provide content from BBC Entertainment and the preschool channel, CBeebies.
French IPTV operator SFR is dropping the Neufbox brand name it acquired after buying Neuf telecom. All set-tops from the company will now be known as la box de SFR.
