UPC DTH looks to the future

May 22, 2012 10.23 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

BUCHAREST BUSINESS BREAKFAST. UPC DTH will shortly add Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2HD in all four Central and East European markets it operates in.

Speaking at today’s Bucharest Business Breakfast on the future of digital TV in Romania, Magnus Ternsjö, managing director of UPC Broadband’s DTH business, said that the two channels should be available on its platforms ahead of Euro 2012, which starts in early June.

In the case of Romania, this should ensure that Focus Sat offers the best HD package in the country.

Ternsjö added that the business had gained 90,000 subscribers in 2011, with 56,000 coming from Romania.

He also said that there were still more room for consolidation in Romanian DTH and the market was not yet saturated.
