Local communications provider KC has launched a new service to assist customers in connecting up their internet TVs.
It follows a number of recent surveys that have shown the relatively poor take-up of connected TV services, despite increasing numbers of purchases.
Under the brand KC Connect, a a KC engineer, who will connect the smart TV directly to the internet using Ethernet cables, hiding any messy wires away from view. They also plan to check in-home telephone wiring and make any improvements needed to make sure the customer is getting the fastest possible broadband speeds.
KC, which as Kingston Communications was an early pioneer of IPTV services, says KC Connect can also be used with any other internet-enabled home entertainment equipment, such as Blu-ray players, HD Freeview boxes and gaming consoles.
“KC Connect is the only service of its type in the UK. It means our customers can make the most of the explosion in online content that’s changing British viewing habits,” said Nick Thompson, KC’s director of consumer services.
KC Connect costs from £6 per month as part of a KC phone and broadband bundle. There is also a self-install version of the service for customers who can’t be at home for an engineer visit.
