WATCH VIDEO. Dutch cable operator Ziggo is launching its own music channel in cooperation with Dutch based broadcaster Xite. Making its debut on May 15, Ziggo Xite will broadcast 24/7 as part of the operator’s basic digital tier.
Programming will mainly consist of music videos, but interviews and live concerts are also planned. Ziggo is the main sponsor of the Ziggo Dome concert hall in Amsterdam, where a TV studio for the new channel will be housed as part of the Club Ziggo.
The new Ziggo Xite cbannel will also be sued for promotion of events in the Ziggo Dome and other music related activities.
Dutch based muisc channel Xite launched in May 2008 on the cablenets of UPC and Caiway. A year later, the broadcaster introduced its own on-demand service. Xite is also available in Belgium on the Telenet cable network.
For Ziggo, the new joint venture is the second entry into the field of content – earlier this year Ziggo launched the Dutch version of HBO in a joint venture with Time Warner.
