DMax HD joins Astra’s HD+ platform

May 5, 2012 08.02 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Discovery’s DMax HD is joining the HD+ platform in Germany as the 14th commercial broadcaster.

DMax is a free-to-air channel of Discovery Communications for the German speaking market, offering documentaries, features and factual entertainment.

With this latest addition, the complete HD+ line up includes the following encrypted channels: RTL HD, Sat.1 HD, ProSieben HD, VOX HD, Kabel eins HD, RTL II HD, Super RTL HD, N24 HD, Tele 5 HD, Sport1 HD, DMax HD, Nickelodeon HD, Sixx HD, and Comedy Central HD.

Wilfried Urner, CEO of HD+ and responsible for products and services at SES, said: “With DMax HD, one of the pioneers of HD is joining our platform. Documentations and features are ideal formats for HD.

“The launch of DMax HD and Super RTL HD on HD+ will give the development of our platform a further push. With the start of additional free-to-air HD channels and the large pay-TV line-up in HD, the HD offer on the ASTRA Satellite System becomes very impressive and continues to be one of the most comprehensive and attractive HD line-ups in the market and even internationally.”

Viewers with an HD+ receiver now have 32 encrypted and unencrypted free-to-air HD channels to choose from.
