TVthek, the catch-up TV service from the Austrian public broadcaster ORF, is now launching on Samsung Smart TVs.
The arrival of TVthek on Samsung is just the first stage of ORF’s entry into the connected TV market. Other brands will follow, but the broadcaster has so far not released any details.
The move to Smart TVs follows the introduction of the catch-up TV servcie on tablets and smart phones last December.
The ORF-Thek was launched more than one year ago and now has more than 1,000 programmes available on demand, as well as a number of live streams.
According to the broadcaster, the service received more than 12 million requests for streams during the first three months of the year. About 660,000 people used the platform on average per month. There were also about 300,000 downloads on iPhones, iPads and Android devices.
