Viasat’s premium pay-TV subscriber total in the Nordic region fell by 19,000 in the first quarter to 1,039,000.
Its basic satellite subscriber total rose by 4,000 to 42,000, while its satellite value added services all grew in popularity.
In the latter case, ViasatPlus ended the quarter with 191,000 subscribers (188,000 at the end of 2011), Multiroom with 251,000 (250,000) and HD 313,000 (297,000).
Net sales in the Nordic region in Q1 were meanwhile SEK1,249 million (€140.9 million), or 9% more at constant exchange rates than a year earlier.
According to MTG, the fall in the premium pay-TV subscriber total was due to the expiry of one of the group’s virtual operator contracts with a Norwegian IPTV operator following its acquisition by a cable company, as well as a restatement of its subscriber base by another Norwegian IPTV operator.
Viasat’s emerging market pay-TV operations meanwhile lost 3,000 subscribers in the first quarter, though the figure of 529,000 compared to one of 438,000 a year earlier.
Its mini-pay TV subscription stood at 66,012,000, compared to 58,197,000 a year earlier.
MTG net sales in the first quarter amounted to SEK3,259 million (+4% year-on-year). Its EBIT was meanwhile SEK542 million (=21%) and net income SEK454 million (-7%).
