Online entertainment service ShopTo.net has acquired the assets of Fetch TV, the online VOD streaming service backed by IP Vision.
Fetch TVs boxes were sold by retailers including Tesco, Currys and PC World. The initially innovative devices gave access to both the BBC iPlayer and Sky Player, as well as the Fetch TV service of movies and thematic TV content.
ShopTo CEO Igor Cipolletta committed the company to developing the work in smart TV apps started by IP Vision. “We will continue to make appropriate investments related to growing our multichannel strategy as the online entertainment market evolves with new technology and customer consumption habits.”
ShopTo.net will benefit from the Smart TV apps created for Panasonic Viera TVs and a new Samsung app unveiled just days before IP Vision entered administration.
IP Vision was formed in 2007. Its shareholders included French manufacturer Netgem and fund manager F&C Reit.
