The Polish Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) will decide in spring 2013 whether it will assume the regulation of the country’s cable industry.
The news was given by Magdalena Gaj, the president of the UKE, quoted in Wirtualne Media, who added that the Office would start an analysis into the market this autumn.
At present the UKE is responsible for regulating the fixed line market, which includes the incumbent and alternative telcos, along with the mobile sector, frequency management and digitisation process.
Separately, Gazeta Wyborcza reports that the UKE will make a decision on whether or not to split the incumbent telco TPSA into wholesale and retails divisions in the second half of this month.
