Rostelecom is likely to abolish National Telecommunications (NTK), whose interests include Russia’s leading cable operator, when it takes over the company.
According to Vedomosti, the telco will probably merge it into its own operations, with Rostelecom’s CEO Alexander Provotorov also assuming control of NTK.
NTK was established in 2006 and has been taken over by Rostelecom in two stages, the first in February 2011 when it acquired a 71.8% stake for R27.9 billion (€715.1 million) and second earlier this year, when the remaining 28.2% was sold to the telco by Gazprombank for R13.87 billion.
NTK’s assets include a portfolio of thematic channels, the fate of which has yet to be decided.
