The Hungarian incumbent telco Magyar Telekom’s T-Home now has over 250,000 subscribers to its interactive TV services.
Magyar Telekom, which is the second largest cable operator in Hungary after UPC, launched an IPTV platform in November 2006 and subsequently also a DTH service.
It then gave a debut to Interactive Sat TV last December.
The latter has a number of features including an EPG, picture and music apps and the on demand service Videotheque, which features over 500 movies and is also available to IPTV customers.
Commenting on the landmark figure, Chris Mattheisen, chairman and CEO of Magyar Telekom, said that, “2012 will be the year of interactive TV in Hungary. Interactivity becomes ever more important for our customers: consequent to new TV applications already more than 250 thousand people use T-Home’s IPTV and Interactive Sat TV services, while this year we expect this figure to grow further”.
