Volia widens HD coverage

April 3, 2012 09.09 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The leading Ukrainian cable operator Volia has extended its HD services beyond the capital, Kiev, to six further cities.

According to the company, they are now also available in Lviv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Sevastopol. Volia’s HD offer currently consists of National Geographic HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, Viasat History HD/Viasat Nature HD, Outdoor Channel HD, Travel Channel HD and MyZen.

Four further channels – TV HD, Fashion One HD, HD Tonis and Futbol HD – will be added at the start of Euro 2012, which is being co-hosted by Ukraine and Poland.

Although the HD package will cost UAH40 (€3.7) a month, new and existing Volia subscribers will be offered it for no additional charge for three months if they sign up for it from now until the end of May.

Volia expects its HD package to be available in a total of 14 cities by the end of this year.
