Sony will bring two Android-powered Google TV devices to Europe this September, Stéphane Labrousse, marketing director of Sony France, told Les Echos.
The first device is a separate Sony media player, which will retail at around €200; the second is a Sony Blu-ray player incorporating Google TV, which will cost €300. There are as yet no plans to bring a TV set with Google TV integrated to the market.
The two set-tops will be available in France, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. At launch, between 120 and 200 different apps will be available including Google’s own music service and YouTube. Also, Sony’s own Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited as well as catch-up TV from M6 will be part of the offering.
Sony first showed the US versions of the two devices last January at the CES in Las Vegas, the network media player NSZ-GS7 and Blu-ray Disc player NSZ-GP9.
