Russia’s Gazprom Space Systems (GSS) has secured a transponder on Astra 1F, located at 55 degrees East, through which it will distribute a package of TV channels and radio stations.
In a statement, the company says that it has started test broadcasts with NTV+3 and Raz TV and will be offering up to 14 channels by the summer.
Astra 1F covers the European part of Russia, Urals and Western Siberia. GSS and SES entered into a strategic partnership involving Astra 1F and the Yamal-402 satellites last September.
