The second General Assembly of the HbbTV consortium has been held at the EBU headquarters in Geneva. Around 30 delegates heard reports of successful launches for the hybrid broadcast and broadband protocol in France, Germany, Spain, Austria and the Netherlands. There were also updates on the development of the specification and details of the proposed testing regime.
The consortium, which published its first specification in June 2010, now has some 60 members.
The Assembly was held ahead of the EBU BroadThinking seminar, also taking place this week in Geneva, includes live demonstrations of HbbTV services.
A joint demonstration from Abertis telecom and Nagra will demonstrate how HbbTV can be used to bring complementary pay-TV services to linear content.
