BSkyB-owned ISP The Cloud is to provide free Wi-Fi at every London Overground railway station.
Rollout of the service will begin during the summer and will allow passengers 60 minutes of free Wi-Fi access each day at all 56 London Overground-operated stations.
Earlier this month Virgin Media was selected to provide public access Wi-Fi at around 120 stations on the London Underground.
Vince Russell, managing director at The Cloud, said: “People now expect to be able to access the internet wherever they are– it’s become a way of passing the time and entertaining themselves as much as keeping up with emails and work”.
Major stations on the network that will be Wi-Fi-enabled before the end of 2012 include: Willesden Junction, West Hampstead, New Cross Gate, Forest Hill, West Croydon, Norwood Junction, Surrey Quays, Dalston, Wapping, Hackney Central, Kensington Olympia and Shepherd’s Bush.
