IP&TV WORLD FORUM – LONDON. Conax has announced plans to offer operators a pre-integrated eco-system to enable multiscreen and on demand services for smaller operators.
Tor Helge Kristiansen, director of digital product management at Conax, explained that previously such integration was only available to the larger operators and spelt a change of strategy for the Telenor-owned technology company largely associated with conditional access systems.
Conax is working with middleware developer, Cubiware, and content management system provider, MPS Broadband, though Helge Kristiansen stressed Conax would continue to work with a variety of technology suppliers.
“This is a sample eco-system and we can build a different eco-system with different partners,” he said. The pre-integration phase would also help reduce costs.
Helge Kristiansen admitted there had been difficulties with the March 2010 announcement that would have combined the Conax conditional access system with features from the TiVo platform. However, he said the co-operation remained were a suitable customer found.
Canal Digital had announced the launch of a TiVo product, but this has now been put firmly to one side, with neither side wanting to comment publically.
