IP&TV World Forum – London. Only 7% of viewers are willing to pay over 10% more for additional TV platform services they don’t see as core, according to a new report published by Irdeto and released at the OTT Strategy Summit 2012.
The report, which surveyed 300 respondents aged 18-45 from 10 countries with a minimum level of ownership of digital gadgets, found that the most appealing features for consumers were watching on one device then switching to another; remotely control TV from other devices; remotely control DVR from other devices; and access pay ‘movie store’ from any device. Of secondary importance were watch and interact with TV from mobile phone; integrated social networking sites with TV; access to catch-up service from any device; and watch and interact with TV from tablet.
Much less popular were watching TV shows on Facebook and playing games provided by pay-TV using the remote and mobile/tablet.
Commenting on the findings, Christopher Schouten, senior marketing director, online, Irdeto, added that up to a third of consumers are willing to pay €5 a week for TV Everywhere, with the highest figure being found in Spain.
