Questions have been raised about the future ownership of Russia’s Gazprom Media, whose interests include the TV station TNT and long-established DTH platform NTV-Plus.
Quoted in a Gazprom publication and the local press, Alexander Krasenkov, a member of Gazprombank’s board, said Gazprom Media was a “difficult asset” and may be sold sooner or later as media is not the bank’s core business activity.
However, Gazprom Media CEO Nikolai Senkevich soon afterwards denied a sale was imminent and added that the company was ready for an IPO.
Gazprom Media is backed by Gazprombank, which in turn is controlled by Gazprom and the Gazfond pension fund.
