Poland’s leading DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat has announced plans to launch a mobile TV service in the second quarter.
Known as TV MOBILNA and distributed using DVB-T technology, it will offer subscribers a total of eight TV channels and 12 radio stations, with reception being possible through M-T 5000 mobile decoders connected via Wi-Fi to devices such as smartphones or tablets.
To receive the service, viewers will in the first instance have to install the TV MOBILNA app, available free of charge from the App Store and Android Market.
The eight TV channels offered by TV MOBILNA will be in SD and are already distributed via DTT.
The service will employ frequencies allocated to Info TV FM, which has a network of transmitters in 31 of Poland’s largest cities and was acquired by Cyfrowy Polsat this January.
The service will potentially reach around 5 million households and 15 million people.
TV MOBILNA will also be made available on the proprietary T-HD 1000 receiver, which gives access to the online video service ipla.
It will offer both free DTT and paid-for channels.
