Sky has announced the launch of Sky Store, replacing Sky Box Office in Sky’s video on demand service Sky Anytime+.
At the same time the platform has announced an expansion in the number of titles that will be made available to rent.
Sky Anytime customers will now be able to enjoy over 1,000 titles, including new blockbusters such as Immortals, Paranormal Activity 3 and The Three Musketeers for £3.49 in SD and £3.99 in HD. Library titles will be priced at £1.99/£2.99 with offer prices of 99p/£1.49. While recent releases are on a par with Lovefilm and iTunes, library titles are some 50p cheaper.
Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies said, “Thanks to Sky Store, we are able to deliver our customers a comprehensive movie rental service straight to their living room. Millions of our customers love having the ability to watch hundreds of movies through a Sky Movies subscription, but we know that some prefer to enjoy films on a pay as you go basis.”
It was recently announced that Sky Anytime+ was being extended to all broadband enabled homes, regardless of whether they have chosen Sky as their ISP. It opens up over-the-top content that will be delivered to Sky’s five million installed Sky+ HD receivers.
