German private broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1-Group wants to buy the Austrian private station Austria 9.
Although the contract has not been signed, according to ProSiebenSat.1’s Markus Breitenecker the deal is imminent.
Austria 9 started broadcasting on December 12, 2007 and is owned by its managing director Geschäftsführer Conrad Heberling and the Andmann Media Holding. Airtime is sold via RTL’s sales house IP Austria.
The channel is available on DTH satellite, the Sky Austria platform, via A1 TV (IPTV) and on most cablenets in the country.
Following the acquisition, the group would have five channels in Austria. It already owns and operates ProSieben Österreich, Sat.1 Österreich, Kabel1 Österreich and Puls4.
