CABLE CONGRESS – BRUSSELS. Arris is teaming up with German cable operator Kabel Deutschland and Sony for a live demonstration of DVB-C2 broadcast and VOD delivery at next week’s Cable Congress in Brussels.
The demonstration uses the Arris D5 Universal Edge QAM to implement QAM sharing at one of the lowest power consumption rates per channel. A Sony TV with integrated DVB-C2 tuner, the first in the world to incorporate the next generation transmission standard, will also be on display at the Arris stand. The Sony KDL-46HX755 will be available in the German market from April.
DVB-C2 uses the latest modulation and coding techniques to improve the efficiency of cable networks, especially in cases where the downstream capacity is being used to its limit. Kabel Deutschland is currently planning the delivery of the first Digital TV services via DVB-C2.
