CABSAT 2012 – DUBAI. The UAE-based satellite operator Yahsat has launched the region’s first Ka-band trunking service.
Known as YahCarrier, it is targeted at the business sector and available to telecom carriers across 28 countries in the Middle East, Africa and South West Asia.
Yahsat has also entered into a new partnership with the Belgium-based organisation Newtec.
Under it, the latter will provide ground segment technology for the service. Yahsat, which is owned by Mubadala and based in Abu Dhabi, covers over 140 countries across the Middle East, Africa and South West Asia.
Its first satellite (Y1A) was launched in April 2011 and it is preparing to launch a second (Y1B) this April.
