The Latvian incumbent telco Lattelecom has begun lobbying for a renewal of the DTT licence it currently holds.
According to DB, it has promised to provide 50,000 decoders free of charge to the most needy households if it wins the licence, a contest for which will run until the end of September.
Lattelecom currently holds a five-year DTT licence that expires at the end of 2013.
A leading provider of pay-TV services in Latvia, it operates both a DTT and an IPTV platform.
