OTE-backed Romtelecom ended 2011 with a combined total of 1,179,169 subscribers to its DTH, IPTV and cable TV services, or 11.9% more than a year earlier.
Although its broadband subscriber total also rose last year, by 12.1% to 1,136,025, the Romanian telco’s fixed line revenues dipped by 8.6% to €655.1 million.
Its EBITDA amounted to €119.1 million (-23%) and operating loss €299.6 million (+2.6%).
Romtelecom’s TV subscriber total was boosted by the acquisition of two rival DTH platforms last year, while its cable operation NextGen saw its subscriber total grow by 17% alone in the fourth quarter.
Romtelecom’s parent company OTE meanwhile posted 59,944 IPTV and DTH subscribers at the end of 2011, or 19.8% more than a year earlier.
Its net income rose by 202.3% in 2011 to €119.7 million and it has since sold its stake in Telekom Srbija for nearly €400 million.
