HD first for RCS&RDS

February 23, 2012 08.11 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The leading Romanian cable and DTH operator RCS&RDS will launch the country’s first full HD news channel on March 1.

According to Balkans.com and business-review, it will be known as Digi 24 and broadcast news bulletins every hour, as well as live transmissions of the day’s main events, talk shows and several show formats produced in-house.

Digi 24 will join a growing list of proprietary services that includes 10 TV, Digi Sport, Digi Film 1 and Digi Film 2.

RCS&RDS faces strong competition from both UPC Romanian and Romtelecom and has recently begun to focus on developing its own channel portfolio.
