Poland eyes another DTT contest

February 20, 2012 12.01 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Polish National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) could announce a tender for four more frequencies on the country’s first DTT multiplex MUX 1 later this year.

The surprise news was given by Krzysztof Luft, a member of the Council, and quoted by Satkurier.

MUX 1 already carries the public broadcaster’s three main channels TVP1, TVP2 and TVP Info, along with the recently launched commercial channels Eska TV, TTV and Polo TV and a test version of ATM Rozrywka.

The third multiplex MUX 3 is fully allocated to TVP and currently distributes the three main channels, along with three thematic services.

They will be joined by TVP2 HD this summer, while TVP1 HD will be added to the MUX 1 line-up.

Poland’s second multiplex is allocated entirely to commercial TV services.
