The Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS) will start broadcasting in DVB-T2 in five cities in the second quarter of this year, according to Viktor Pinchuk, the company’s deputy DG.
Speaking at CSTB 2012 and quoted by AKTR and Comnews, he said that the cities in question would be Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan, Volgograd and Krasnodar and the move would be in accordance with a plan approved by the Ministry of Communications last September.
There is also already a plan in place for upgrading networks from DVB-T to DVB-T2.
The Ministry of Communications has also said that the production and distribution of equipment to receive DVB-T2 services can be organised by any interested parties.
