UPC Nederland is adding catch-up TV services from Belgian Dutch language public broadcaster VRT and from BBC Entertainment.
Starting today, Friday, February 3, all UPC digital TV customers have access to catch-up programming from the three Belgian public networks, with the Eén Gemist, Canvas Gemist and Ketnet Gemist services.
VRT Eén (One) is the pubcaster’s flagship channel, Canvas the channel with more in-depth and alternative programming while Ketnet is VRT’s kids and teens channel. Programmes will be available up to seven days after their original broadcast date.
On February 8, UPC will launch BBC Entertainment On Demand for all its top-tier digital subscribers.
Pim Hofmeester, director of VOD at UPC said in a statement: “We strive to increase the number of channels that offer programmes via catch-up TV or own video on demand service. This gives customers more freedom, because they increasingly want to watch programmes when it suits them. Channels also benefit. An additional catch-up TV service or video on demand service strengthens the bond between viewer and the broadcaster, because people still watch programmes that they have otherwise missed.”
In a related development, UPC said it added the Karaoke channel to its line-up of music channels. The channel is available at no cost to top-tier subscribers, with just a basic digital TV connection payment of €0.49 per clip or €1.49 for five clips.
