Double growth for TDC

February 3, 2012 10.35 Europe/London By Julian Clover

TDC’s twin TV offers helped the Danish telco grow pay-TV revenue by 11% during 2011.

Cablenet YouSee increased its ARPU, while TDC TV recorded a 19% subscriber growth. The number of VOD sessions grew by over 300% in 2011 and TDC is on track to become the number one movie rental company in Denmark within the next year.

A total of 1,124,000 video rentals were carried out on YouSee during 2011, an increase of 167%. The startover function is also being used more frequently 3.1 million shows watched, compared to 1.7 million in 2010.

YouSee has been looking to add value with apps for the iPad and iPhone and the addition of free HD channels. A price increase, introduced at the start of 2011, resulted in minimal spindown from packages and the operator was able to grow ARPU by 6.4%.

As of December 31, 2011 the TDC Group had 1,496,000 TV subscriptions, up from 1,464,000 in 2010.

Revenues at YouSee increased by 6.2% to DKK 4,259, which contributed 1,335,000 TV subs.
