Ginx TV launches in Malta

January 24, 2012 11.11 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Ginx TV has signed a distribution agreement with Malta’s Melita TV for distribution of its 24/7 video gaming TV channel to cable homes in Malta, from February 1, 2012 onwards.

Ginx, the world’s only international channel dedicated to video-gaming and video-gaming culture, is growing its footprint around the world and is fully localised in 15 territories and eight languages. The fast growing international channel focuses on all forms of video-gaming, ranging from console and PC games to mobile games and apps. It will join Melita’s most widely distributed lifestyle package.

Ginx CEO, Michiel Bakker said in a statement: “We are delighted to make our channel available to Melita’s growing subscriber-base. Our shows highlight the latest games and provide news, reviews and behind the scenes insights for fans of videogames and we hope they will resonate with our new viewers in Malta”.

Commenting on this launch, Michael Darmanin, director for marketing and business services at Melita said: “Melita is constantly investing in giving its customers access to more content and offering more choice in entertainment. The gamers market is growing rapidly in Mata and local viewers will certainly be glad to receive Ginx TV. The channel is a novelty on the Maltese market and brings viewers a diverse range of video game programmes every day of the week, 24 hours a day. We are pleased that we can offer Ginx TV to Maltese TV subscribers as part of our line-up.”

Ginx will be distributed as part of the lifestyle programming within Melita’s TV digital package which offers viewers more than 80 TV channels and 61 digital music channels.
