Lovefilm is to be added to the LG Smart TV platform, giving owners of LG’s connected TVs access to the video streaming service Lovefilm instant.
The LG Smart TV platform already has over 250 apps available to UK viewers. Lovefilm Instant will be available at an initial £4.99 (€5.98) per month, the discounted offer part of the current publicity battle with newly installed rival Netflix.
The application will also enable subscribers to manage their movie rental list, rate movies, read reviews and search movies by cast and crew. Subscribers can also find films within the bespoke collections via LG TVs.
Functionality is further enhanced by LG’s Magic Motion Remote, which is controlled by movements and gestures, instead of buttons.
Lovefilm Instant is already available on 175 devices including gaming consoles, a growing number of Internet-connected TV sets, Blu-ray players, tablets and PCs.
