Virgin Media has struck a deal with Sky for the carriage of the new Sky Sports F1 channel.
Sky Sports F1 will capitalise on the broadcaster’s newly acquired rights to the motor racing championship that will be shared with the BBC.
The channel will be added to the Sky Sports package available through Virgin Media, alongside Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports 4. Subscribers to this package will have the channel added automatically at launch. Sky Sports News is separately included in all of Virgin’s pay-TV tiers.
Sky Sports 1 and 2 are regulated under the wholesale must carry.
Sky Sports F1 HD will offer live coverage of practice and qualifying sessions with interactive being used to allow fans to follow on board cameras, the pits, and essential race data. The BBC will be restricted to highlights of many of the races.
