Euronews is no longer being distributed by the Belarusian state-owned station MTIS.
Quoting local agency reports, RFE/RL says that Euronews was replaced at the beginning of this month by programming from the Russian movie channel NTV-Plus Kino+.
However, the decision to drop the channel is apparently temporary and due to an increase in broadcasting fees charged by the news channel’s owners.
Negotiations between the two parties are ongoing and should, in MTIS’s view, be resolved by February.
Euronews is also distributed by independent TV stations via satellite and the internet, as well as the cable operator Cosmos TV, in Belarus and watched by around 15% of Belarusian viewers.
