French HbbTV developer httv is to expand into South East Asia after buying a majority stake in the Singapore-based SindiTV.
The combined company plans to offer HbbTV and HD+ interactive solutions for connected TVs and STBs.
SindiTV, develops high end software solutions based on both ST and Fujitsu chipset devices. It holds long-standing relationships with major Asian device manufacturers and already has a significant presence in the German HD+ market.
“SindiTV’s long experience with chipset vendors will complement our software expertise for the httvBox solution. It will give our solutions a better “time to market” declared Bernard Dupin, CEO, httv. “With this presence in Singapore, httv will be able to efficiently distribute its broadcast headend products and end-to-end solutions to the fast growing South East Asian market.”
Between them the two companies will have over 60 engineers.
