The Israeli DTH platform Yes is looking into the possibility of selling its documentary channel yes Docu.
According to Haaretz, Yes is currently facing a possible fine of NIS40 million (€8 million) for failing to meet its obligation of spending half of the money allotted to original programming on stations operated by outside companies.
Rather than paying another company, Yes has been paying independent filmmakers to produce their own documentaries.
Yes may be fined or face sanctions following a hearing on December 22.
Yes was launched in 1998 and currently claims over 578,000 subscribers, equivalent to a 39% share of Israel’s multichannel TV market.
