Three firms band together for IPTV deployment

December 13, 2011 09.51 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Kathrein, Blankom Digital and Ocilion have announced a close cooperation in the area of IPTV deployment.

The three firms offer a comprehensive product which comprises optics, DOCSIS and Fiber-to-the-Building infrastructure solutions with a whole family of IPTV set-top boxes and integration expertise from Kathrein, IPTV headend technology from Blankom Digital and the software solution of Ocilion.

Manfred Aull, head of broadband communications at Kathrein in Rosenheim, in a statement: “We have evolved in a short time to become one of the leading IPTV solutions providers in the in German-speaking market. We will consistently continue to expand and enhance our IPTV product this segment of the market, and also for the carrier market as well as for vertical markets such as hotels, hospitals and more. In the new cooperation, we will bring our IPTV solution expertise with infrastructure and set-top boxes joint projects with Blankom Digital. ”

Aull added: “Our IPTV competency centre in Rosenheim has been working for several years together with Ocilion in the development and marketing of end-to-end IPTV solutions. The competence centre was able to implement some extensive customer projects. This is how our unique know-how pool around the topic IPTV has developed.”

Ernst Freese, CEO of Blankom Digital in Bad Salzdetfurth: “The IPTV solution developed by Kathrein and Ocillion is for us a perfect complement to our own existing IPTV head end product group. Blankom Digital IPTV head ends have in the past successfully used the Kathrein and Ocilion products in several projects. We now want to further expand this cooperation in the new venture. ”

Hans Kühberger, managing director of Ocilion IPTV Technologies GmbH in Ried, Austria: “Our collaboration with Kathrein has now existed for several years, is very successful and was expanded several times and has gradually evolved. The experience of many projects has been incorporated in the products of both companies, especially for the use of IPTV systems in Germany. That has now also why Blankom Digital has chosen our IPTV solution, and this is an excellent endorsement of our work.”
