The Russian state broadcaster VGTRK/RTR has signed an agreement with the National Hockey League (NHL) giving it the right to broadcast the latter’s games live.
According to the NHL, VGTRK/RTR will show multiple games per week, which will be shared between its FTA channel Rossiya 2 and sports channel Sport 1.
The former is currently received by more than 80 million people and latter by over 3.5 million, making the deal a significant addition to the league’s international TV distribution.
