Although the take-up of digital pay-TV services is growing in Lithuania, its electronic communications market as a whole is contacting.
Figures published by the country’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRa) show that the number of digital pay-TV subscribers at the end of the third quarter stood at 317,000, or 7% more than three months earlier.
Of these, 82,900 received cable or MMDS, 78,500 IPTV, 71,900 DTT and 83,700 DTH services.
Over the year, the overall subscriber figure increased by 23%. Revenues in the sector meanwhile amounted to LTL26.4 million (€7.6 million) in the third quarter, up 9% on three months earlier.
There were also 956,000 broadband subscribers in Lithuania at the end of Q3, up 4% on three months earlier and 12% over the year.
Revenues in the electronic communications market as a whole amounted to LTL598.9 million in the third quarter, 1.1% down on three months earlier and 9% lower than in the previous year.
Investment in network infrastructure was also down, the Q3 figure of LTL80.9 million figure being 14% lower than the previous quarter.
