TMG increases stake in Odeon Film

November 22, 2011 10.34 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Tele München Group has acquired around 850,000 shares in Odeon Film AG, increasing it stake from 33% to more than 40%.

In July 2011, TMG’s interest in Odeon Film AG was officially cleared by the German competition authority Bundeskartellamt. With the latest acquisition, TMG becomes the second largest shareholder in Odeon Film AG.

Odeon Film AG is one of Germany’s leading independent production companies of television programmes and feature films and creates content for the public broadcasters as well as the big private networks. To date, the production volume comprises around 78 television series with approx. 2,600 episodes, 174 TV movies, 43 feature films and 20 documentaries.

Dr. Herbert Kloiber, managing director and owner of TMG, in a statement: “After the successful acquisition of 30% in Odeon Film in July this year, we are happy that the newly acquired share package brings our strategic partnership with Odeon Film to the next level in timely manner.“

Mischa Hofmann, CEO of Odeon Film AG: “With TMG being one of Germany’s most successful media companies, Dr. Kloiber‘s decision to acquire a stake and its increase now are a proof of confidence in our company. We are confident, that this is a signal of reliance and continuity to all of Odeon Film AG’s shareholders and clients. Moreover, we are sure that TMG, now being one of our major shareholders, gives numerous positive impulses to our core business as well as to the development of our business areas.”

Odeon Film AG is listed at the German stock exchange since April 1999. TMG owns and operates Tele 5 in Germany and ATV in Austria and is shareholder in RTL II.
