TV apps are becoming increasingly popular among viewers in Denmark, according to a survey undertaken by TDC.
It shows that it in the first two months TDC’s five TV apps were available, 80% of TDC TV viewers – equivalent to 100,000 households – visited the new TV app universe Mit TDC (‘My TDC’).
Commenting on the results of the survey, René Brøchner, TDC’s director of television, broadband and telephony, said the focus on TV2, which will become a paid service, is one reason for the growing popularity of the apps.
So, too, has its mini pack, which has been a success and is expected to have around 20,000 new customers by the New Year.
It should become even more popular from mid-January, right after viewers lose TV2.
TDC is a pioneer in TV apps in Denmark. Prior to the launch of its apps, one study showed that 63% of the population had never heard of TV apps and only 3% had tried to download one.
TDC’s five apps are for news, weather, music (TDC Play), radio and home disc.
