Beginning this winter, German and Austrian Sky subscribers will be able to access Sky Go on the Xbox 360 console.
The announcement was made during the presentation of the platform’s Q3 figures. Sky Fußball Bundesliga, Sky Sport, on-demand titles from the Sky Film package and Sky Sport News HD will be available for all Xbox Live Gold customers with Sky Go.
With “Kinect” for Xbox 360, the Sky Go App can be controlled through gestures or voice commands.
Since October 2011, Sky Go customers with an iPad can also see movies on-demand, including blockbusters and top titles across all genres from the Sky Film package.
Launched on April 2011, Sky Go has been subsequently been used by customers over 4 million times via the web, the iPad and iPhone.
Sky Premium HD customers now have the option to receive Sky Go for free, taking their movies and sports packages either on the web on their PC or through iPad or iPhone.
Sky Anytime, which launched in August, is a new on-demand service that is available through the reserved portion of the Sky+ hard disk. In Germany it offers a selection of titles from the Sky Film package, as well as a selection of entertainment and sports programmes, free for all Sky+ customers.
The number of Sky+ receivers is growing strongly with approximately 200,000 devices in customer homes at the end of Q3 2011.
The new Sky Sport News HD goes on-air December 1. The new HD channel will cover news from the world of sports. It is the first 24/7-sport news channel in Germany and Austria and will be available on TV, web, iPad, iPhone, the Xbox 360, as well as in Sky bars and hotels.
Sky Sport News HD will be part of the Sky Welt package and will be automatically activated for all Sky customers. To ensure the widest audience can sample the channel, Sky is making it available unencrypted for the first month for all digital satellite and cable households.
