Belgacom signs Deezer deal

November 7, 2011 11.02 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Belgacom has sigend an exclusive agreement with the international music-on-demand service Deezer.

The agreement with Deezer will offer Belgacom customers unlimited access to over 1 million songs. The Deezer Belgacom for service will be launched within weeks with details about the commercial offer.

Belgacom is the first operator in Belgium to offer an unlimited music service, which is available on PCs, Macs, smart phones and tablets, via streaming or download.

Customers will be able to create playlists with titles from the catalogue, share their preferences with other users and discover using recommendations of the Belgium-based editorial team Deezer.

The French-based music service Deezer is working on its international rollout; it has just launched in the UK and before the end of the year the service will be available in over 100 countries.

In September 2011, Bruno Chauvat, EVP strategy and content at Belgacom said in a statement: “Music and telecom are the perfect duo when access to services is unlimited and seamless, with no distinction of network or device. Thanks to its intelligent networks, including broadband, 3G and soon FON Belgacom is the only operator in Belgium to offer the customer at home and at any time access to their favorite entertainment services like Deezer. Our exclusive agreement with Deezer is a new pillar of our attractive convergent entertainment offerings.”

Axel Dauchez, Deezer CEO: “Our ambition is to become the reference in Belgium for streaming music, as we are already in France and England. We want to offer all Belgian users a unique service with music discovery and sharing. We are very pleased that Belgacom is joining us in this adventure.”
