Denmark’s YouSee enjoyed solid growth in both revenue and EBITDA in the first three quarters of this year.
A key factor was an increase in ARPU through YouSee clear.
Revenues from video on demand were also on the climb, though higher copyright fees and fewer additional TV packages had a negative effect.
YouSee revenues in the first nine months of the year amounted to DKK3,192 (€428.9 million) or DKK202 million (+6.8%) more than in the same period last year.
Gross profit stood at DKK1,900 million (+8.9%) and EBITDA DKK1,139 million (+13.8%).
From January 2012, TV2 will become a pay-TV channel, but YouSee has decided to maintain TV2 as part of the basic YouSee TV package.
However, as a consequence of the increased content costs the subscription fees for all packages will rise.
YouSee has also enjoyed success with its “100 films for free campaign”, with around 100,000 movies streamed during the first month.
