The Czech Republic may stop undertaking DVB-T2 tests from the New Year.
According to Digizone, the national transmission company Ceske Radiokomunikace would like to obtain authorisation from the Czech Telecom Office (CTU) to extend a trial currently being undertaken in Prague.
However, it is licensed only until the end of this month, with an extension possible until the end of the year.
Continuing the tests into 2012 would require an amendment to the Electronic Communications Law, but this has been delayed in parliament.
The CTU has indicated that it would reject any request for an extension as it is not allowed under current legislation, while Radiokomunikace says it would like to obtain an extension of up to 18 months for the tests.
