Virgin Media is to integrate the Spotify music service with its existing broadband bundles. Subscribers that renew their broadband contracts will receive Spotify Premium free for six months. Mobile telephony customers for three months with no additional data charges. A dedicated app for TiVo customers is also planned. The offer applies on the broadband tiers of 30 Mbps and above. Virgin customers are also on 10 Mbps and 20 Mbps.
The Spotify client will also feature a new ‘VM Music’ tab that will give customers access to exclusive content.
Once the three- or six month extension has passed, customers will revert to the regular ad supported version of Spotify. Ordinarily, the Swedish company charges £9.99 per month for its premium service.
The cablenet said it would be unveiling a range of additional offers bundling Spotify with its services in due course
Virgin currently holds an exclusive on Spotify in the UK, which has struck similar deals with KPN in the Netherlands and TeliaSonera in the Nordic region.
